2023 Honda Pilot Exterior

2023 Honda Pilot Buyer's Guide

Backing up the Pilot's improved off-road capabilities is a new tough-looking exterior that continues Honda's latest design language found on its light trucks. This fresh styling features a powerful stance, a large upright grille, aggressively flared fenders, and an overall sportier silhouette.

This is the largest Pilot that Honda's ever built thanks to an extended wheelbase and wider tracks, and signature elements like a long hood, pulled back A-pillars, and new LED taillights make this SUV unforgettable.

The Sport model keeps things hip with gloss black trim and black roof rails, while the EX-L model adds more flair with chrome details and machined 5-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. The Touring and Elite models really bring the luxury appeal with premium gloss black accents, dual chrome exhaust finishers, and exclusive 7-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish.

And for the first time ever, four post-production option packages will be offered for the 2024 Pilot, which includes a new HPD (Honda Performance Development) Package created by the in-house racing division and features bronze-tinted aluminum wheels, fender flares, and HPD decals.

Eight exterior color choices are available for the 2024 Pilot, and include some real eye-catching shades like Diffused Sky Blue Pearl, Obsidian Blue Pearl, and Radiant Red Metallic II.

2024 Honda Pilot Interior

2023 Honda Pilot Buyer's Guide

The larger footprint of the 2024 Pilot means there's more room for passengers, and Honda's designers have done a great job at maximizing the space with clean surfaces, premium materials, and thoughtful placement of essential fixtures.

This all-new interior is the most luxurious version that Honda has ever offered on an SUV, and it's as comfortable as it is technology-forward. An available 9-inch color touchscreen serves as your hub for connectivity with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and its graphics are prettier and faster than ever thanks to a more powerful processor.

On the driver's side, a 7-inch digital instrument panel sits next to a physical speedometer. This customizable system provides easy access to crucial vehicle information and important settings. For the Pilot Elite, this display is upgraded to 10.2 inches and includes a color head-up display.

With on-demand seating for up to 8 people, the 2024 Pilot offers an additional layer of versatility through multi-function middle seats that can be stored underneath the cargo floor. Improvements in rear legroom and reclining angle also mean that the rest of the family gets to bask in newfound comfort on long drives.

Cargo room is the best ever in Pilot's history, featuring up to 113.67 cu-ft behind the first row, and up to 22.42 cu-ft behind the third row. There are also 14 large cup holders throughout the vehicle, with 8 that can fit 32 ounce water bottles.

2024 Honda Pilot Performance

2023 Honda Pilot Buyer's Guide

The propulsion system for the 2024 Pilot is one of the most refined and powerful versions you can find in its class--an all-new 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

This 24-valve, all-aluminum V6 utilizes smart engineering to be more efficient while reducing its overall size and parts complexity. Pilot's Variable Cylinder Management system further improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. And to get the power to the ground, every Pilot model comes standard with a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission that features exclusive tuning as well as paddle shifters--all important parts of the equation for having a fun time.

Honda's second generation torque vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system also makes its debut on the 2024 Pilot, offering a stronger rear differential, more traction, and faster torque transferring response. These elements come together to deliver a more confident and dynamic driving experience, especially in slick or off-road conditions. Pilot's behavior can be further customized via five driver selectable modes - Normal, Econ, Snow, Sport and Tow. For the 2024 model year, Pilot TrailSport and select all-wheel drive models now offer an updated Sand mode and a new Trail mode for extreme off-road capabilities.

The 2024 Pilot's towing capacity is 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, and fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city / 22 mpg hwy for 2WD models.

2024 Honda Pilot Safety

2023 Honda Pilot Buyer's Guide

All 2024 Pilot models come standard with an updated version of Honda Sensing, a suite of safety and driver assistive technologies. These smart technologies plus Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering architecture make the Pilot a class-leader in SUV safety performance.

Honda Sensing has been enhanced with a wider view camera, wide-angle radar, and improved object detection and collision prevention performance. Some highlights of this newer version of Honda Sensing include:

  • Expanded blind spot information range
  • Traffic Jam Assist
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • More natural Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
  • Smoother Lane Keeping Assist behavior
  • Rear seatbelt and seat reminder system

On the Pilot TrailSport, a new TrailWatch camera system uses four exterior cameras and various views to help you identify and avoid obstacles that may be out of your line of vision. This advanced system automatically activates when Pilot is traveling in Trail mode at speeds below 15 mph, offering additional support and confidence for your toughest adventures.
